Roofing and Siding in Celina

Celina's median house was built in 2015. About a third of its homes went up in the 2010s and another third since 2020. It is the newest and fastest-growing town on this site, and almost every roof in it is a first roof.

A Town of New Roofs

Of Celina's roughly 10,000 occupied homes, nine in ten are owner-occupied, the highest share among the places on this site. A town where two thirds of the houses are under fifteen years old has few roofs due on age. What it has is thousands of roofs installed quickly during a building boom, which means the inspection questions are about nails, flashing, boots and vents rather than granules.

Storms Named Celina

The Star-Telegram's list of places with storm reports on the evening of March 14, 2024 included Celina alongside Prosper and Frisco, with hail of 1.5 to 3 inches reported across Denton and Collin counties that night. Nothing in the sources gives a size for Celina itself, and this site does not invent one. A 2019 house in Celina was there for that storm; a 2021 house was not there for any of the three on the record.

What Goes Wrong on a Boom-Town Roof

  • Pipe boots of the lowest grade, which split in under ten years of Texas sun.
  • High or crooked nails that let shingles lift in the first strong wind.
  • Step flashing behind the fiber cement upper stories, lapped by a siding crew and a roofing crew who never met.
  • Ventilation that meets the minimum and no more, which shortens shingle life on a west-facing slope.
  • Ridge caps that were never sealed in cold weather and lift at the first spring storm.

A written inspection in the first years is a builder-warranty tool as much as a roof check.

Questions From Celina

My Celina house is three years old. Why would I need a roofer?

You probably do not, unless a storm has been through or something leaks. If either, the builder's warranty is the first call and an inspection report is useful evidence.

Does Celina require a permit for a re-roof?

Not researched for this page. Ask the city's building department before work starts.

Is there a hail record for Celina?

Celina is named in a March 14, 2024 news list of places with storm reports. No size for Celina is in the sources; county-level reports that night ran 1.5 to 3 inches.

Can a contractor from Frisco work in Celina?

Yes. Contractors serving this site cover Celina; any city registration Celina requires is the contractor's to hold.

A New House and a First Roof?

Say the year. A short inspection now is cheaper than a long one later.
