Roofing and Siding in Prosper
Prosper's median house was built in 2014, five years after Frisco's. It is the newest stock covered by this site and the one where a roof conversation is almost always a storm conversation rather than an age conversation.
What the Town Requires
The Town of Prosper's homeowner permit page lists roofing, written as re-roofing, among the jobs that need a permit, alongside additions, patio covers, sheds, concrete flatwork and the electrical, plumbing and HVAC trades. Fencing needs one too unless fewer than sixteen linear feet are being replaced with like materials. Painting, flooring, cabinetry, trim carpentry and landscaping do not.
The page does not say whether siding needs a permit, and this site does not guess. It also links to questions about registered contractors without answering them on the page read; ask the Building Inspections Division, 972-346-3502, option 2.

The Storms Reached Here Too
Prosper is named in all three events on this site's storm record. On April 3, 2014 the Weather Service listed a one-inch report at Prosper. On March 24, 2019 the newspaper, citing the Weather Service, put hail of 1.5 to 2 inches across the Prosper, McKinney and Frisco area. On March 14, 2024 the Star-Telegram's list of places with storm reports included Prosper and Celina.
A 2014 house has been through all three. A 2020 house has been through one. Neither is old enough to replace on age, and both are candidates for a hail inspection if nobody has walked the roof since.

New Houses, Known Failure Points
On a roof under ten years old the shingles are rarely the problem. What fails early is what was rushed: pipe boots that were the cheapest grade, step flashing lapped the wrong way behind upper-story fiber cement, nails driven high or crooked, and ridge caps that lift in the first big wind. A contractor looking at a Prosper roof is looking for those, and for hail, not for age.

Questions From Prosper
Does Prosper require a permit to replace a roof?
The town's homeowner permit page lists roofing, written as re-roofing, as permit work. Call Building Inspections at 972-346-3502, option 2, for the application details.
Is a builder's warranty still in force on a 2018 Prosper house?
Possibly, for some items. Check the warranty document before paying for a repair the builder may owe.
Was Prosper hit as hard as Frisco in 2019?
The sources describe 1.5 to 2 inches across the Prosper, McKinney and Frisco area and a measured 2.75-inch report east of Frisco. Where any one roof falls in that is an inspection question.
Does this site cover all of Prosper?
Yes, both the Collin and Denton County sides. Give the address.
A Prosper Roof Nobody Has Walked Since 2024?
